Why copper is different
Copper is used for rainwater goods when appearance and longevity matter — on traditional and architectural roofs as well as contemporary work. Joints, soldering or mechanical fixings, and how the metal weathers all have to be right. Poor joins fail, and the finish shows it.
New copper usually starts bright and develops a natural patina as it weathers. Matching repairs to existing weathered copper needs care so the work does not look patched.
